Sugarly ("the App") is a mobile application that helps users track daily sugar intake for themselves and their family members by scanning food packaging with AI-powered image recognition.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
Profile and tracking information is stored locally on your device and is not stored on our servers.
This may include:
- Profile names
- Profile type (child or adult)
- Age group
- Gender category
- Daily sugar limit
- Food entries
- Product names
- Sugar amounts
- Portion sizes
- Date and time of entries
- Daily sugar totals
- Tracking history
This information can be deleted at any time by deleting profiles, clearing the App's storage, or uninstalling the App.
3. Data Transmitted to Third-Party Services
3.1 Food Photo Analysis (AI)
When you take or upload a photo of a food product, the image is transmitted to our backend service (powered by Supabase) and may be processed by AI services to identify the product and extract nutritional information.
Photos are processed solely for:
- Product recognition
- Barcode recognition
- Nutritional information extraction
- Sugar content estimation
Photos:
- Are not used to identify users
- Are not sold
- Are not used for advertising purposes
- Are not used for profiling purposes
- Are not intentionally retained after processing is complete
AI-generated results are estimates and may not always be accurate.
3.2 Food Product Databases
To supplement AI results, the App may query publicly available food databases, including:
- Open Food Facts
- USDA FoodData Central
These requests may contain product names or barcode numbers but do not include personal information.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not intentionally collect:
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Government-issued identifiers
- Payment information
- Precise location data
- Contacts
- Advertising identifiers
- Device identifiers used for cross-app tracking
- Photos other than those explicitly submitted for food analysis
We do not use user information for:
- Advertising
- Behavioral profiling
- Marketing analytics
- Selling user data
5. Children's Privacy
The App is designed for use by parents and families and may be used to track sugar intake for children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
All profile and tracking information remains under the control of the parent or guardian and is stored locally on the user's device.

The App uses third-party services that operate under their own privacy policies.

8. Data Retention and Deletion
Information stored locally on your device remains there until you delete it.
You may remove data by deleting profiles, clearing the App's storage, or uninstalling the App.
Photos submitted for AI analysis are not intentionally retained after processing is complete.
9. International Use
Sugarly may be used internationally.
Food information may be obtained from public databases and AI-generated analysis. Availability, completeness, and accuracy of food data may vary by country, language, and product.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If changes are made, the updated version will be published within the App and the Effective Date above will be revised.
Continued use of the App after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
